It’s Time to Take Your Power Back

Updated: Nov 21, 2020

I believe we are in a time where the Lord really wants to heal us from all areas of fear. Especially primal fears within us.

There are five primal fears that we all face or deal with during our lifetimes. I believe this is a time where many of those fears are coming to the surface and we may not be recognizing them properly. Anxiety is a primary symptom of a primal fear but not the only thing. Your trigger may be anger or depression, shame, overwhelming feelings, etc. This is coming from within... it’s not just what you’re reading about or hearing on the news. It could be triggered by something unresolved in your life...or from a childhood trauma, pain or some other past experience.

Loss of autonomy and fear of death are two really being highlighted right now. But that may not be what you’re dealing with. No matter what fear you are facing, Jesus Christ is the answer. He came to set the captive ones free. Don’t be held back by fear any longer.

“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.” Isaiah‬ ‭61:1-3‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Let me offer a solution to you. When these things begin to come up to the surface and or God highlights them to you, I want you to begin to ask Holy Spirit to put his finger on what that thing is. It’s time to take your power back and face those fears. Feel it, face it and resist it. It starts with recognizing and acknowledging it. It’s ok to feel it. Let yourself feel it by acknowledging its existence. Our Feelings are given to us to identify things that need our attention. In the Christian world we have been teaching people for far too long to stuff our feelings. At some point those feelings will emerge and it may not look good when they do. We are meant to be feelers God gave us feelings for a reason.

TAKE YOUR COURAGE BACK

“Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love.” 1 Corinthians‬ ‭16:13-14‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Ask God to show you how to recognize and identify what fear you need to face. He will help you overcome. And he will empower you by his Spirit and grace you to overcome that fear by resisting it moving forward. This will not be a one time quick fix, as it’s a process of recognition and identification. This has been something that’s been holding you back from experiencing true joy, life and freedom for far too long.

Jesus came to set us free from everything that holds us captive. Learning how to identify primal fears and overcoming them is key to experiencing true peace. I believe this is a hope solution and boy do we need hope-not just for external circumstances but internally for ourselves- and for our families. We can help others break free too. God wants us free to help break others free...and right now even as this pandemic has been used against us and our freedoms, God can and will use it for our good-for our freedom.

Love is a key to getting your power back too-as love is always the answer:

REST IN HIS LOVE FOR YOU

“And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. We love because he first loved us. Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.” 1 John‬ ‭4:16-21‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Love God, love others and love yourself. No greater commands.

DON’T BELIEVE THE LIE-YOU’RE NOT TIMID OR WEAK

“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” 2 Timothy‬ ‭1:7‬ ‭NIV‬‬
